Argentière

The iconic Chamonix valley consistently rates among the top resorts of the world. Die-hard skiers and snowboarders will find that the best base for them is Argentière, a rustic village at the foot of Les Grands Montets, known for its long, exhilarating black runs and some of the best off-piste skiing in the world.

Why choose Argentiere?

  • A haven for high-mountain lovers thanks to its challenging black and red runs, moguls, secret combes and couloirs.
  • Excellent off-piste skiing conditions for skiers, snowboarders and freeriders right until the end of the season in April.
  • Rustic village and a peaceful alternative to Chamonix within easy reach of Geneva.

Après-Ski

  • Much more relaxed than nearby Chamonix, but with several bars in the town centre, including The Office which offers regular live music. The Slalom and the Savoy are two other options.

  • A number of good quality but inexpensive restaurants in the central area. The Office also offers traditional British pub style food. The P'tite Verte and the Stone come highly recommended.

  • Regular buses run from Argentiere to the centre of Chamonix (and back) throughout the season for a more lively night out.

Other Activities

  • Most of the traditional mountain activities snowshoeing, sledging, cross-country, dog sledding, etc. are either based or depart from Chamonix.

  • The 20mn cable car ride from Chamonix to the Aiguille du Midi (3,842m) to enjoy unparalleled 360 degree views over the French, Italian and Swiss alps. "Step into the Void" a 2.50 sqm glass cube suspended over a 1000m precipice.

  • The Mont Blanc Vallée offers unique glaciers landscapes: ice cascades, ice pyramids and pinnacles with related tours and walks.
